Rod

Wire rods are hot rolled from billets to an approximately round cross section and produced in coils of one continuous length. Wire rods are not comparable to hot rolled bars in accuracy of cross section or surface finish due to manufacturing methods. Wire rods are a solid semi-finished hot rolled product intended primarily for the manufacture of wire.

Bright Basic Wire

Mid-South Wire produces low and medium carbon, bright steel wire that is suitable for plating, painting and other subsequent processes such as spot-welding, bending, cutting, and forming. Bright basic wire is processed by utilizing the optimum raw material (rod) size for the best reduction of area, to achieve the desired surface quality, tensile strength and mechanical properties.

Plating Quality Wire

Mid-South Wire Company produces plating quality wire in low and medium carbons for demanding applications such as appliance shelving and automotive components. Our plating quality wire is produced with stringent quality standards applied to the raw material (rod) and the related processing parameters. High quality, extra-bright plating quality wire requires special care with handling and storage of the rod, closely defined acid cleaning procedures, specifically targeted reduction in area, and lubrication practices. Mid-South Wire Company has been a leader in plating quality wire for over 50 years.

Galvanized Wire

Mid-South Wire produces Industrial quality and Nitrogen-wiped galvanized wire in Class 1 thru 4 coating weights. Automatic coating weight control ensures that the zinc coating weight meets the requirements of ASTM A-641, from the beginning to the end of each coil. Zinc is a “sacrificial coating”, meaning that the zinc coating protects the steel substrate by a process of oxidation over many years. Heavy coated wire production ranges from .080” to .375”.

Mesh

Mid-South Wire is now manufacturing wire mesh for concrete reinforcing. Reinforcing concrete with wire mesh will make your construction project stronger and last longer by helping control and prevent cracking. By design, wire mesh increases construction speed and decreases labor costs from traditional construction methods.
